Fairmont Pacific Rim

In my previous post about the Fairmont Waterfront, I mentioned Vancouver having four Fairmonts in town – Pac Rim, Waterfront, Downtown and airport. Of the two I saw, hands down, without question, Pacific Rim was my favorite.  It was the one I stayed in and toured the other, but that wouldn’t have mattered.  I will explain why later.

Pacific Rim and Waterfront are a block apart. The lobby has scent infused which was refreshing.  When I stayed, it was during Japan Month and the lobby was BUSY.  The lobby had a special artistic display for the month and the bar/restaurant was very busy at noon on Friday.  It wasn’t until Sunday when we checked out that it actually slowed down. They did say this wasn’t typical, it was definitely busier than normal because of the special feature at the hotel

I stayed in a Signature Harbour View room.  It was fantastic – I had THE best view of the harbor.  It is no surprise at it is the top level standard room category.

All of the standard rooms at the Fairmont Pacific Room are the same size at 400 SF, it is the view that changes.

Everything is controlled on an ipad or by switch. If I would have been thinking, I would have had the iPad beside my bed, so I could open the blinds in the morning without getting out, but I don’t always think these things through.

The hotel had a proper turndown – very thorough, a sweet treat, bottle of water (glass bottle, refillable) remote on bed, curtains closed, etc.

I ordered room service, which was prompt and very good.  The service I received as a staying guest was top notch.  It wasn’t surprising to me they are the number one rated hotel for the city.

To me, this is where the Pacific Rim shined – the washroom. Every room has a TV in the mirror and separate wash tub and shower.  At the Waterfront, some room categories have the tub/shower with curtain combination. The wash rooms at Waterfront just cannot compete with Pacific Rim at all.  If I had to make a complaint, which is very weak one at best, is the Paficic Rim doesn’t have dual vanities.  However, to me, the very long counter top compensates for the single vanity.

I did get to tour some more of the hotel and the next category room I saw was the Signature Ofuro Room.  It is very unique – a corner room, slightly bigger at 450 SF, the highlight is the luxurious oversized marble spa bathroom with Japanese deep soaker Ofuro jetted tub. The views are pretty amazing, too.

The last room I was able to visit was the ever so amazing, Chairman’s Suite. The nickname is the “Rock Star Suite” due to the privacy provided with the private elevator and entertaining option.  The suite is styled as a Balinese Villa with feature such as an open floor plan, a custom 8′ Swarovski chandelier, 500 SF marble bathroom including a soaking tub with view to outdoor garden, and outdoor rooftop patio with views of Coal Harbour and the North Shore Mountains.

The suite itself is 2,250 SF and can be connected to a separate guestroom for a total of 2,650 SF.

The hotel has a great swimming pool, with cabanas.  The cabanas are for hotel residents only and are available for $299 plus taxes.

The hotel has a large spa which features Kerstin Florian.

I loved, loved my time at the Fairmont Pacific Rim.  They really do it all correct.  It is a great city hotel, amazing water and mountain views, and all that one would want from a downtown hotel.

The Fairmont Pacific Rim is a Virtuoso property and through our partnership, I am proud to offer the following amenities: upgrade upon arrival, subject to availability; breakfast daily for two guests; a $100 USD equivalent spa or food and beverage credit; and early check in/late check out, based on availability.
