Aman Tokyo

The Aman Tokyo is relatively new and opened in December 2014.  The property is really close to the Tokyo Station and a subway stop.  The main lobby is on the 33rd floor and occupies the top 6 floors of the Otemachi Tower.  For an Aman property, it is quite large with 84 rooms.

The Lobby is an open room, 6 stories high.  The light from the windows and ceiling provide a beautiful contrast to the black tile featured throughout.  The whole property has a very modern, Japanese design with dark and light contrasts.  It is hard to describe, but quite pretty in person.  I really loved the desks used by the concierge, check in, and even in the gym – there was a giant slab of polished wood.

The Aman has become quite popular for locals as a place to enjoy High Tea.  I was visiting on a Tuesday with a tea reservation for 3 pm and it was quite busy.  The views are expansive and it is easy to understand why it is a local favorite.  The main restaurant is simply called the Restaurant by Aman is Italian cuisine for both lunch and dinner.  The restaurant even has a 1,200 bottle wine cellar.

As it was afternoon tea time, a local musician was playing the most beautiful, calming music. With the design of the lobby, the music could be easily heard anywhere.

All the rooms are identical for the layout with the suites having an extra room of varying size as the living area.  I visited a the room called Suite, Aman Tokyo.  A very spacious 141 square meters (1,520 SF), the room had amazing views of the city.  The bedroom and living room both had cushions and deep windows which guests can sit and relax.

The bathroom was between the bedroom and living room.  The same black tile and light wood is featured throughout.  For me, I have a huge soft spot for a soaking tub with a view.  The Aman Tokyo did not disappoint in that category! This is almost the perfect city view.

The hotel features a spa, swimming pool, and gym.  All enjoy the same sweeping city views.

The Aman’s are legendary for their beauty, service, and luxury offerings. The Aman Tokyo did not disappoint on my quick visit. My only regret is not being able to wake up in one of the gorgeous rooms.
