Intercontinental Sydney

The IC was my host hotel for my 3 night stay as part of a travel conference I was attending.  It is located two blocks from the Circular Quay in the CBD and across the street from the Royal Botanical Gardens.

The greatest benefit to staying at the IC Sydney is as a Virtuoso guest booking an Eastern Harbour View Room or higher, you automatically have Club access.  The Club at the IC has arguably the best views in Sydney.  I will write more on this soon. The property is frequently used for dignitaries and heads of state as it is one of the few hotels in town with secure access.

For a luxury property, the bathroom’s in standard rooms are really too small.  The bathroom has a single vanity, a shower/tub combination, and toilet.  There is also a little window one can open to then see into the rest of the room.  It was nice in the morning getting ready and watching TV. The hotel features Agraria amenities, as do most Intercontinental Hotels.

The best reason to stay at the property is the Virtuoso amenity of Club access.  The Club is on floor 31, which is also where the exercise room and spa are located.  I didn’t go into either of those areas, but did spend much time at the Club.  At the Club, you can take breakfast, afternoon tea, evening canapes, and cocktails.  The best feature though is the outside seating area.  There are chairs and the best view in town.  This picture was from the club balcony one night.

I didn’t take many pictures of the property, especially the common areas as I was quite full on with my conference and often with many people.  The hotel itself is fine.  Other Virtuoso hotels in Sydney have much nicer rooms, however having Club Access makes up for a lot.  The Club is really special.  The Club features all day light refreshments, daily buffet breakfast, twilight drinks and canapes from 5-7 pm, and a wrap around outdoor patio.

The Intercontinental Sydney is a Virtuoso property and through our partnership, I am proud to offer the following amenities: upgrade on arrival, subject to availability; access to Club Intercontinental with breakfast buffet daily for two guests; complimentary wifi; and early check in/late check out, based on availability.
