The hotel was built as a hotel (but not a Rosewood) in 1927.  It has been many hotels over the years, but only in 2011 did it become a Rosewood, after an 8 year closure for complete renovation.  This full renovation allowed for what had been two tiny rooms in the previous design to be one nice sized room as the Rosewood.

Of all the properties visited, the Rosewood was probably my favorite for interior design.  It had a hint of Old European in a very classy way.  The lobby and spaces all smelled amazing.  At the check in counter is even a perfume bar.  They also had a spa salt sampler. I loved, LOVED this hotel and cannot wait to go back to Vancouver and stay at the property.  This property is just my style.

The first room I visited was a Deluxe Room, which is the category above lead in.  Throughout the hotel, the design features earth tones and warm pastels. The Deluxe Rooms are 410-465 square feet and the king bedded rooms have a huge soaker tub.  The real highlight of the rooms are the washrooms – they are as big as the room itself. They have dual vanities and glass showers with La Bottega amenities.

The living space of the room had a small sofa, chair, and table. The whole room is warm and comfortable.

The Lord Stanley Suite. Amazing. True luxury.  It is a two bedroom suite, featuring a king bed and two double beds in the second bedroom.  The main bedroom has a wash room near identical to the wash room in the Deluxe Room, pictured above.  The second bedroom looks different but with the same features of dual vanity, stand alone shower, etc.

The room is 1,280 square feet with a large living room and dining room which can accommodate eight people. The highlight of the suite though is the private rooftop garden terrace.  It is upstairs from the rest of the suite and has unobstructed views of Howe and Georgia Street.  The terrace can accommodate 20 guests and features a plunge pool and fireplace!

This was the fun part of the tour – learning information you do not otherwise. Hotel Georgia has a secret.  And the secret is they have a penthouse residence not listed on the website and only eligible for reservations through Rosewood Elite advisors, like myself. I do not remember the square footage, but suffice to say, it is HUGE. The penthouse had 4 bedrooms, a full kitchen, multiple other rooms and incomparable views.

The spa is Sense, A Rosewood Spa and offers a full range of therapies.

The pool had a pretty funky design and is an indoor saltwater lap pool, on the 4th floor and adjacent to the outdoor restaurant, Reflections.

As the original hotel was home to the first bar to open after prohibition, they have a speakeasy bar names as such Prohibition.  It is accessed from the exterior with a green light lit when the bar is open three days a week, Thursday to Saturday.  They always have live music.  The food was very good, we had a sampling and loved it all.  The service wasn’t great at all, but with the rest of the restaurant so amazing, I would go again just with different service expectations.

I loved this hotel. I can’t wait to go back.  I had a great little visit.  Prohibition was awesome, even with slow service.  The design and details are gorgeous at the historic property and it really feels like an updated throwback to times before.
