Intercontinental Amman

The Intercontinental Amman is located on one of the seven hills.  It is very convenient for visitors – a great location, easy to get to the sites in the city, not far from the main roads, etc.  It has very light Middle Eastern touches throughout and definitely feels like a hotel many business travelers use.  I had a two night stay at the hotel with club access.

I was in an Executive Room.  To me, most IC’s have smaller rooms that are adequate, but not exceptional until you reach the suite category.  That describes the room I was in to a tee. The room was comfortable and the bed was great, but it wasn’t anything to blow you away.

The room had a mini bar, plenty bottles of water, a desk, and chair.  We did have a very nice little welcome amenity.

One of my issues with Intercontinental’s is their bathrooms.  Unless in a suite, the standard rooms do not have a proper soaking tub.  At least in this room, the shower and tub were separate, but the tub is still not great for a proper soak. The amenities are Agraria, which are featured in most IC’s.

The hotel had much to offer – I visited the pool, gym, and spa.  The spa had a dry sauna and jacuzzi tub. The jacuzzi was different than I had seen before – it was above ground and you had to use a ladder to get in.  It was a bit snug with 4 ladies in it.  The gym was great and had everything I needed, including free weights.

The hotel also has a restaurant and bar on the first floor.

The best feature of the hotel is the club level.  It is a proper club with afternoon snacks, evening canapes, evening drinks, a great breakfast in the morning, etc.  The views were pretty great too.  I chose to eat breakfast at it both mornings as although the breakfast buffet downstairs is huge and wonderful, I wanted to be in a quiet, peaceful setting.  The club was perfect for me.

The Intercontinental Amman is a fine hotel and one of the best in the city. I never did hear how many rooms, but the hotel is large with many rooms available.  It didn’t wow me, but it was clean, consistent, well located, and comfortable.
