This past September, I was passing through Frankfurt, Germany and stopped into the Jumeirah Frankfurt for a visit.  I am a big fan of Germany – it is the country I have visited the most, by far.  I think I have been 7 times.  Frankfurt is a common stop for many entering the country or even Europe as it is a hub for Lufthansa airlines with many direct flights to many locations in the USA. Frankfurt is also the financial center for Europe and a popular town for business visitors.

The Jumeirah Frankfurt opened with 217 rooms (49 suites) in 2009 and is a short walk from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange’s former location and steps from some of the city’s prime shopping.  When guests first enter the hotel, they could go straight to the lobby or one quick turn into the Ember Bar and Lounge, which features champagne Veuve Clicquot.   Guests of the hotel are provided a welcome drink at check in and complimentary wifi throughout the hotel.

Besides Ember, they hotel has a Lebanese restaurant – El Rayyan – and their signature restaurant, Max on One.  More on it later.

I was able to see two rooms, the Studio room and Skyline Junior Suite.  The entry level room in the hotel is a Deluxe Room and is 35-40 square meters.  The Studio Room is a great size at 50-60 square meters and where a guest can start to really have some space in the room.  The room is divided by a TV that is on a swivel.

What stood out immediately was the wood floor and lack of carpet.  It is a noticeable difference from most hotels.  Housekeeping definitely must do a great job every day as it would show immediately if corners were cut.  I found the rooms to be very minimalist in design which highlights the art in each room, commissioned by local artist Hartwig Ebersbach, very well.  Another small detail I loved is the in-room safe’s all have outlets inside the safe.  The idea was so a traveler can charge their laptop or other small electronics while they are secured.

The bathrooms are spacious as well and have a large soaking tub, stand alone shower, and double vanity.  The shower has a bench within, which I love.

The Skyline Junior Suite is near identical to the Studio Room, just larger.  The view are fantastic. The property has “smart” windows – to help control the room temperature, the shades will automatically shut if it is a warm day and left open and the temperature in the room is rising.

The room layout was virtually the same. The noticeable difference is the seating area is larger,

The bathroom is also near identical.

Guests can access the gym, Fitness First, in the building complex via their own door on a certain floor.  Jumeirah has a contract with the gym – it is not a gym just for the hotel.  This is good for guests as they gym is HUGE, 5,000 square meters, and had anything you could ever want, including a pool.  The special access is a double set of doors that can only be opened with a room key.  The hotel has water bottles and towels set near the doors for guests to use.

Talise Spa is the in house spa for the hotel.  It is quiet lovely and a great place to visit. Here are a few pictures from the spa:

I am a huge fan of conservation efforts, not matter the size and was impressed to hear the hotel has their own beehives on the roof of their very tall building in the middle of a massive city.  They use the honey all throughout the hotel, whether in the spa or the signature creme brulee for dessert at Max on One.

Although I didn’t stay at the property, I did get to enjoy a great meal at Max on One.  It is a show kitchen, meaning the kitchen is completely open for viewing.  The design of the restaurant is simplistic and enjoyable.  The chandelier in the next picture is made entirely of water glasses.

The restaurant has a room that can be reserved for a larger group or is a great place to slowly savor a treat in the afternoon and read a book.
